I was born April 18th 1952 in Alessandria (Italy). I attended primary, secondary and   high school in Alessandria where I graduated in 1970 from Liceo Classico. I enrolled as student at the University of Torino in 1970 and I obtained my Laurea degree in Physics in 1974. I married with Tiziana Spandonari May 29th 1976 and my first and only daughter Laura was born May 18th 1988. I am separated from my wife since Nov. 2002 and divorced from her since Dec. 2006. Since 2010 I am married with Olga Aleksandrovna Fre Kozlovskaya.
I am Full Professor of General Relativity in Torino since 1995.
From 1983 to 1985, in leave of absence from Torino, I was Research Fellow at CERN.

Carriera Accademica Academic Career
Pietro G. Frè, born in Alessandria (Italy) in 1952, is Professor Emeritus of Theoretical Physics at the University of Turin. He has been Dean of the Department of Physics until his retirement, effective November 1st, 2022. He was Director of the Arnold-Regge Center for Algebra, Geometry and Theoretical Physics from 2017 to 2022. From 1996 to 2000 he was President of SIGRAV (Italian Society of General Relativity and Physics of  Gravitation).  He has been Full Professor of Theoretical Physics and Director of the Particle Physics Sector of SISSA from 1990 to 1996. Fellow of CERN Theoretical Division, post-doctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology and Bielefeld University in the early years of his career. Author of about 380 scientific publications including 10 monographic books he has given significant contributions in the field of Supergravity and String Theories with applications to Cosmology, Black Holes, Holographic Gauge/Gravity Correspondence and Algebraic Structures underlying these theories. Of particular note are the introduction of the rheonomic formulation (with R. D'Auria), the independent invention under the name of  "Cartan Integrable Systems" of Free Differential Algebras and their extension with fermionic p-forms, the D'Auria-Fré algebra later evolved into the A-infinity algebras, the geometric formulation of the theory in 11-dimensions (M-theory), the geometric systematization of the N=2 Supergravity lagrangian  (with S. Ferrara et al), the discover of some of the homogeneous Sasaki-like varieties in dimension seven and the firstdevelopment of their holographic equivalents by quivers. Since 2001, Prof. Fré has begun intensive collaboration with Ukraine and Russia. In 2002 he spent a sabbatical year in Kiev and taught a long course on Supergravity at the Bogolyubov Institute of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. Frequent visitor to the Joint Institute of Nuclear Research in Dubna during the years 2003 to 2008, Prof. Fré became Scientific Attachée of the Italian Embassy in Moscow in 2009 and held this position for 8 years until September 2017. During his time in Russia, in addition to his diplomatic activities, he continued his scientific activities, collaborating in particular with Prof. Alexander Sorin, his frequent co-author, and his teaching activities by giving an advanced course in Modern Mathematical Physics at the MEPhI (Moscow Engineering Physical Institute) for three successive years. He was also awarded two honorary degrees: one by the Ivanovo State Technical-Chemical University, the other by the Joint Institute of Nuclear Research in Dubna. Prof. Fré, who  had a considerable number of  Ph.D. students, among whom many are  Full and Associate Professors at various Universities, also devotes himself to Literature and he has authored  a number of novels and essays of philosophical-historical character.
